Despite not playing in Kaizer Chiefs’ last three games, Itumeleng Khune has travelled with Bafana Bafana and is available for Shakes Mashaba.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper picked up a knee injury during the Amakhosi’s MTN8 defeat to Ajax Cape Town last month, consequently going on to miss two league games and one Telkom Knockout match because of it.
However, the Siya crew reported earlier this week that the ‘keeper was back in full training and available for selection at Chiefs, with his omission from the Platinum Stars game this weekend being purely precautionary.
Now the Bafana number one has jetted out with the national team to Central America for the friendlies against Costa Rica and Honduras, and is fit to play should Mashaba decide to call upon him.
The other two goalkeepers called up alongside Khune are SuperSport United’s Ronwen Williams and Jackson Mabokgwane of Mpumalanga Black Aces, with all three likely to be called upon over the course of the two games.
